Open Question: I would like to start saving for Retirement?

Hello everybody, i am 25 years old, and i would like to start saving for retirement. I grow up in Bulgaria in Eastern Europe so i was never even thinking about Retirement Plans just because there is no such a thing down there. However i have been in US for over 5 years now, and the possibilities you have here to save for Retirement are pretty good. The thing is i don;t know where to start, i don't know anything about that and i need some help. 1.) What type of Retirement plan should i star? (i am independent contractor) 2.) Where should i open the account? (company with good history and low fees) 3.) Is it better to trust a broker or some company to run that for me or should i educate my self and do all the investing by myself? 4.)
